Closing strong: Reflecting on the last year of 'Close The Care Gap’
On 4 February 2024, the third and final year of the World Cancer Day ‘Close The Care Gap’ campaign showed its success in advocating for greater equity and prompting action from individuals, organisations and governments around the world.
The 2022-2024 campaign, centred on the theme of equity, orchestrated targeted actions designed to educate, inspire, and encourage individuals to become agents of change. By involving a wide range of people, World Cancer Day aims to create a groundswell of support to reduce the burden of cancer and inspire meaningful progress preventing and treating the disease as well as in improving the quality of life for people with cancer.
The World Cancer Day 2024 Impact Report shows all the inspiring actions that were taken on 4 February and the incredible reach of this global health awareness day.
Thank you all for your unwavering support and engagement: UICC members and partners, the health community, organisations, businesses, leaders, governments and individuals from all walks of life.
Together, we can be proud of the significant impact we achieved. Together, we raised greater awareness, spread knowledge and strengthened political will to work towards a healthier world where millions of lives are saved from cancer.
We are thrilled to introduce the new campaign theme for World Cancer Day 2025-2027: "United by Unique." This theme puts people at the center of care, highlighting their stories as the heart of the conversation.
