Happy Belated New Year! We wish you are off to a healthy, safe, and spirited start to the new year. Thank you very much for your continuing support for our cause.
What we have experienced since last year under the pandemic is telling us all that we need to work harder to better society and lead across boundaries to make a difference. At WIT, we reassured ourselves of the importance of our work to cultivate leaders who collaborate across boundaries to impact tomorrow.
In 2020, WIT published a book on nonprofit governance and leadership, a translation of Governance as Leadership, the first of its kind in Japan. We shifted all of our programs to virtual ones including cross-border leadership training programs and nonprofit board & governance workshops.
We also invested in building our organizational capacity to launch a new program called Board Fellow Program in 2021. We welcomed a new board member, Erika Ogawa, and team members. To articulate our story and transition at the 10-year anniversary of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, we are in the process of changing our organization name and website as well. We are fortunate to be able to go through such positive changes under the global crisis.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to many people and institutions who worked with and supported us including:
Our diverse constituencies who responded to our interviews and surveys for the program evaluations and organizational changes, Eiji Press, Service Grant, The U.S.-Japan Council, TOMODACHI Initiative, MIT SOLVE, Recruit Management Solutions, Community Based Economy, World Summit Award, BrightOne, our advisors and consultants, Shain, board, and team members.
In 2021, we keep striving to cultivate leaders, organizations, and communities that co-create across boundaries to better society to embody a world where we all work together to better the world, regardless of where we are from.
