Dear Donor,
The New Year is a chance to start over, to give yourself new choices, and most importantly, to renew hope in life. We hope 2022 promotes the transformations for a better world for all of us!
We would like to start the year by sharing good news about the progress of one of the young women participating in the project you supported.
Putting into a context: V. is part of a group of young people who must leave the shelter where they live when they turn 18. Most of them don't have strong family ties, a job or a place to live.
V. is a very determined 17-year-old girl. Her dream is to become a veterinary doctor. She has passed the second year of high school and she plan to start studying for the admission exams so she can get a scholarship and go to college. She is in a new job, as a Young Apprentice at Caixa Economica Bank. She is going through a process of possible adoption and is reflecting on the real possibilities of this process is a very mature way. She is very committed to organize her time to be able to do her best at school and at work.
During the project, we work closely with her and each young adult in the group, through individual weekly follow-ups, opportunities to participate in thematic groups and cultural expeditions in the city. It contributes to their life projects, specially the professional and housing ones.
In the last three months, the program has assisted 76 young people through biweekly group meetings, 24 young people through individual sessions, and an average of 10 young per week through virtual meetings also open to young people who do not regularly participate in the program. Face-to-face group meetings - which had been taking place virtually since the beginning of the pandemic - were resumed, with all the precautions that the pandemic still requires.
Your support helps those adolescents in such a difficult transition, providing emotional, professional and material support and assisting them in the search for purpose, a job, housing, and how to exercise their citizenship.
Thank you very much. Together we can do much more.
Best regards,
Daniela Vasconcellos and Instituto Fazendo História Team.
