A cancer treatment with doses of affection

Our patiente Luisa
Our patiente Luisa

“As strange as it may seem being here at the hospital is happiness for us.” That is the thoughts of Érica, our patient Luisa’s mother, refering to GRAACC.

Coming from the city of Teixeira de Freitas, in Bahia to seek cure for little Luisa, they consider our Hospital an extension of their family. The girl has already finished her treatment and comes to GRAACC only for consultations and follow-up exams. “Each visit to the hospital is a huge party with lots of hugs, affection and longing that is left behind.

Luisa loves to come to the hospital and goes to every floor to talk to everyone”, says Érica. And this love is so much that, when I was still undergoing treatment, they came to the hospital even without a scheduled procedure.

“On those days, we came to play at the Toy Library with patients who became my daughter’s friends.” Luisa learned, despite being only four years old, to accept with optimism, and even lightness, each treatment she had to face throughout more than half of her life. For her, medicines are ‘little gifts’.

The exam apron is a ‘wonderful dress’ and even fasting has become a joke. Luisa says that “her aunt forgot to do the shopping to prepare the meal”, so she cannot eat at that moment. This humanization combined with specialized and quality medicine are the reasons for GRAACC's existence, to continue offering everything the patient and their family need to overcome this phase and achieve a cure and your donation and support make it possibile.
