In recent months, AAAJC has continued to empower youth and women in Tete Province to lead climate justice initiatives. Our work has focused on building capacity, strengthening community resilience, and ensuring that vulnerable families have the tools to defend their rights and adapt to climate shocks.

Story of Progress:
One inspiring example comes from Changara District, where young facilitators trained by AAAJC organized a community dialogue on land rights and climate adaptation. Women farmers shared how access to compost from our new waste-to-value units has improved soil fertility and reduced dependence on costly inputs. Youth leaders used digital tools to document these changes, creating evidence that strengthens advocacy with local authorities.

Results Achieved:

  • 40 youth and women trained as paralegals and facilitators.
  • Two composting units constructed and operational, with compost distributed to farmers.
  • Demo plots established with irrigation kits, showcasing climate-smart practices.
  • Youth-led governance dialogues held, ensuring community voices are heard.

Impact:
Families report improved yields and stronger community cohesion. Youth leaders are now recognized as key actors in local governance, and women facilitators are leading advocacy efforts. These achievements demonstrate how grassroots leadership can transform vulnerability into resilience and justice.

Next Steps:
AAAJC will expand training to additional communities in Tete, scale up composting systems, and strengthen youth-led advocacy at provincial level. We will also prepare dissemination workshops to share lessons learned nationally and internationally.
