Siem Reap is the number one tourist destination in Cambodia but also one of the poorest regions in the country, with 51.8% of the population living in poverty. Outside of the tourism sector, Siem Reap offers few economic prospects. The goal of our program is to equip Cambodian youth with the educational tools that will give them the opportunity to choose their own career path, enhancing their lives through education. Our vision is a Cambodia where also low-income young people have access to the opportunities that will enable them to rise out of poverty. Results Our program: increases the retention of pupils at both primary and secondary level. increases the enrollment to secondary-level education and Universities assures good quality job placements for our students. These students wouldn't have enrolled in Universities if they hadn't met SK. In our 2009 outgoing class of 60 students: 50% went on to attend vocational training or study at High School or University. 25% have found a job, using their English skills.
