By the time you read this, nearly 300 cloth diapers will have arrived at Ajuuja Children's Home, located in Hawassa Ethiopia.
In the Sidama language, Ajuuja means vision. Ajuuja is home to about thirty children. These children have been found in heartbreaking circumstances, and several have special needs. Many have been abandoned. Some of the children are there because their mothers have passed away, and are being cared for until they are off formula or dad can care for them. These children are loved and brought to health. While this is being done, plans are made for them to be placed in a family, as all children deserve families. Sometimes re-unification can occur with a biological family. Other times, a local foster or adoptive family steps forward. Local adoption is growing in this region of Ethiopia, which is very exciting!
Ajuuja is staffed with very special people who do more than show up and tend to daily duties. The staff are a group of very talented people who truly love the children in their care, and they serve them sacrificially. Beyond Ajuuja, the staff are involved in the surrounding communities, providing support to the most vulnerable and overlooked people.
