Dear Donors,
Thank you for caring about the people of Ogane who are living without reliable access to safe drinking water.
For many families, getting water is not as simple as turning on a tap.
Women and children may have to walk long distances to find water. Sometimes, the available sources are unsafe, but families have little choice when there is no nearby alternative.
For a child, those hours spent searching for water can mean less time in school.
For a mother, it can mean less time caring for her family or earning an income.
And for the entire community, unsafe water can bring illnesses such as diarrhoea, cholera and typhoid.
This project will drill a borehole in Ogane and install a solar-powered pump, water storage tank and public collection taps.
The system will provide safe water close to where people live without depending on fuel or an unreliable electricity supply.
Water will also be tested for safety, while selected community members will receive training to care for and maintain the system.
A nearby source of safe water can change a family's daily life.
Children can spend more time learning instead of walking long distances for water.
Parents can spend more time working and caring for their families.
And families can have greater protection from diseases linked to unsafe water.
Thank you for helping us work toward bringing safe water closer to the people of Ogane.
With gratitude,
Adaego Imoh
