Dear Donors,
Thank you for caring about a community where thousands of people are still waiting for reliable access to safe water.
Imagine waking up each morning knowing that your family needs water, but the nearest source is far away.
You have to walk.
You have to wait.
You have to carry the water home.
And even after all that effort, you may still wonder whether the water is safe to drink.
This is the reality facing about 5,000 people in Ogane.
Women and children carry much of the burden of collecting water. The time spent fetching it can take children away from school and leave adults with less time for work and family responsibilities.
Unsafe water can also expose families to diarrhoea, cholera, typhoid and other diseases.
Our plan is to drill a borehole and install a solar-powered water system with a storage tank and public collection taps.
The system will not depend on fuel or regular electricity to pump water.
Community members will also be trained to manage and maintain the borehole so that it can continue serving the community for years.
Safe water is more than something to drink. It gives people back time.
Time for school.
Time for work.
Time for family.
Time to live without the daily worry of where the next safe bucket of water will come from.
Thank you for helping us bring safe water closer to the people of Ogane.
With gratitude,
Adaego Imoh
