Dear Donors,
Thank you for remembering the community of Ogane.
Water should keep a family healthy.
But when people have no safe source nearby, they may be forced to depend on water that can expose them to disease.
For about 5,000 people in Ogane, access to safe drinking water remains a serious challenge.
Families depend on distant and unsafe sources. This can expose children and adults to diarrhoea, cholera, typhoid and other waterborne illnesses.
When someone becomes sick, the family may also have to spend money on treatment.
There is another cost that is easy to overlook.
The time spent collecting water.
Women and children can spend hours each day searching for water. For children, this can mean missing school. For adults, it can mean less time for work, childcare and other responsibilities.
This microproject will drill a borehole and install a solar-powered water system with storage and public taps.
The water will be tested before use, and community members will receive training to help care for the system.
Safe water should be close enough for a child to reach without missing school.
Thank you for helping us bring this possibility closer to the people of Ogane.
Please share this project with someone who may want to help provide safe water to a community in need.
With gratitude,
Adaego Imoh
