Our Journey to Equip the Computer Hub

By Seguya Ivan | Project leader

The digital divide continues to affect many underserved communities, where children and young people have limited access to computers, internet-based learning, and practical digital training. For many families, the cost of owning a computer or accessing reliable computer services remains beyond their means. As a result, students can miss valuable learning opportunities, while young people may struggle to acquire the digital skills increasingly required for employment, entrepreneurship, and further education.

F SSIBU Mission Foundation is committed to addressing this challenge through the development of a community computer hub equipped with 20 computers. This initiative is designed to bring technology closer to the people who need it most and create an inclusive environment where community members can learn, practice, research, communicate, and develop practical digital skills.

The hub will provide important educational opportunities for children and students. They will have a place to conduct research, access educational materials, improve their computer knowledge, and strengthen skills that complement their classroom education. Young people will also benefit from practical training that can prepare them for employment, entrepreneurship, online opportunities, and continued learning.

Our approach goes beyond simply providing computers. F SSIBU Mission Foundation intends to combine access to technology with training, mentorship, community outreach, and guidance on how digital tools can be used productively. Through outreach activities, we will identify potential beneficiaries and encourage vulnerable and disadvantaged groups to participate so that no one is unnecessarily left behind.

We believe digital inclusion is also about dignity, confidence, and opportunity. A young person should not be excluded from opportunities simply because their family cannot afford a computer. A student should have the opportunity to conduct research independently, while a job seeker should have access to the digital skills needed in today's workplace.

We sincerely thank our donors and partners for believing in this vision and supporting our journey. Your generosity is helping transform a vision into a lasting community resource. Every contribution toward the 20 computers is an investment in knowledge, skills, confidence, and opportunity.

Together, we can build a sustainable computer hub that continues serving children, young people, families, and the wider community for years to come. Your support is not simply equipping a computer centre—it is equipping people for a better future.
