Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development

By Seguya Ivan | Project leader

Dear supporters,

Small businesses are the backbone of many families in our community. Parents, young people, and community members depend on small shops, tailoring, farming, food businesses, market trading, and other informal enterprises to support their families. However, many of these businesses operate without proper financial records, business plans, inventory systems, or access to digital marketing. This makes it difficult for business owners to understand their profits, manage their resources, attract customers, and plan for growth.

By equipping our community computer hub, F SSIBU Mission Foundation will establish a practical learning and support space where local entrepreneurs can acquire digital and business management skills that can immediately be applied to their enterprises.

Through hands-on training, participants will learn how to use spreadsheets for recording sales and expenses, calculating profits, monitoring stock, preparing budgets, and managing cash flow. They will also learn basic business planning, digital marketing, online customer engagement, and how to present their products and services professionally.

The project will particularly benefit small businesses that have traditionally had limited access to technology and business development resources. Entrepreneurs will be able to create simple digital records, identify where their businesses are gaining or losing money, reduce unnecessary costs, and make better-informed decisions.

The impact will extend beyond individual business owners. Stronger small businesses can create employment, increase household incomes, improve financial stability, and stimulate local economic activity. As entrepreneurs become more confident using technology, they can reach new customers beyond their immediate communities and develop opportunities for sustainable growth.

For donors, supporting the computer hub is therefore an investment not only in computers, but in economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods. With the right equipment and training, we can help community entrepreneurs transform informal businesses into better-organized, more productive, and more resilient enterprises—creating lasting economic opportunities for families and the wider community.
