Job Readiness and Employment Support

By Seguya Ivan | Project leader

Dear supporters,

For many young people in our community, the challenge is not a lack of ambition or potential, but limited access to the digital skills, information, and practical guidance required to compete in today’s employment market. As employers increasingly advertise vacancies, receive applications, and communicate with candidates online, young people without these skills can be excluded from opportunities before they even reach an interview.

Through the F SSIBU Mission Foundation Community Computer Hub, young people will receive practical, employment-focused training designed to strengthen their readiness for the world of work. Participants will learn how to prepare professional CVs and cover letters, complete online job applications, create and use professional email accounts, search for legitimate employment opportunities, and prepare effectively for interviews.

The program will go beyond computer literacy by building confidence, communication, problem-solving, and professional workplace skills. Young people will also be guided on how to identify genuine employment opportunities and avoid fraudulent job advertisements and online recruitment scams.

The expected impact is significant. Participants will be better prepared to identify opportunities, present their skills professionally, apply for positions independently, and engage confidently with potential employers. For some, these skills can become a pathway into employment; for others, they can provide a foundation for internships, vocational training, freelancing, entrepreneurship, and further education.

For donors, supporting this initiative means investing directly in the economic potential and future independence of young people. A computer hub equipped for employment support can turn limited digital access into practical opportunities for income generation and career development.

Ultimately, the program aims to help young people move from being excluded from digital employment opportunities to becoming confident, skilled, and competitive participants in the workforce, creating benefits that can extend to their families and the wider community.
