Investing in Youth Skills, Careers and Futures

By F ssibu mission foundation | Project leader

For many young people in the communities we serve, the challenge is not a lack of ambition, but limited access to information, technology, career guidance, and opportunities. Our Digital Career Guidance and Mentorship Programme is helping bridge this gap by transforming our community computer hub into a space where young people can explore possibilities, develop skills, and confidently plan their futures.

Through the hub, young people access career information, online learning resources, scholarship opportunities, vocational and technical training information, employment opportunities, and mentorship. They are supported to develop practical digital skills, including CV preparation, professional email communication, online job applications, research, and responsible use of digital platforms.

The impact reaches beyond computer literacy. A young person who knows where to find legitimate opportunities can pursue education, training, or employment with greater confidence. A student who learns about scholarships can access opportunities that may otherwise remain out of reach. Young people are also encouraged to identify their strengths, understand different career pathways, and make informed decisions about their future.

The programme is particularly valuable for young people from families with limited resources, where access to computers, internet, and career networks may be unavailable. By bringing these resources closer to the community, we are helping reduce the digital and opportunity gap.

Support to equip our computer hub with reliable computers, internet connectivity, learning materials, and digital tools will enable us to reach more young people and provide consistent mentorship.
