We plan to build new security gates at our Animal Hospital and Shelter to keep our rescued dogs safe. A cow-food truck has crashed into our main gates destroying our entrance. The road outside TOLFA has also been resurfaced and will soon become a main highway. This means there is heavier and faster traffic passing by outside. By re-developing our entrance area, to include double gates and a security check-point, we can keep our dogs safe from the traffic outside and make a more secure entrance.
Originally the road outside TOLFA was a dirt track but over the years it has been improved and the road has seen a significant increase in use. Recently the road has been resurfaced to become a highway, and more cars are using it, driving much faster than before. Now a truck delivering cow food has crashed into the entrance and destroyed our main gate and wall. We need to repair the wall and build strong double gates for extra security and to stop our dogs from wandering into the busy road.
We urgently need to rebuild the entrance of TOLFA to include a secure set of double gates. This will ensure that all of our shelter animals are kept securely within TOLFA's grounds while vehicles and pedestrians come and go onto the busy road. A security guard will sign everyone in and out and make sure that the gates are closed properly. This will keep the 60+ recovered rescue dogs that live in our sanctuary safe from the dangers of the road. As a busy working hospital safety is our priority.
This project will mean that we won't lose any of our dogs, or other animals that we have helped through injury or sickness, to traffic accidents on the road outside. It also means that we will be able to monitor all comings and goings to the hospital to enhance our overall security. The gates will form part of a wider redevelopment to include guard hut and visitor waiting area, making TOLFA a safer and more pleasant place for our animals and visitors alike.
