For nearly two decades, DASL has provided hundreds of young Sierra Leoneans with access to computer and digital skills training. However, frequent power outages and rising diesel costs have made it increasingly difficult to operate the computer lab consistently.
We are pleased to report that installation work is now underway. The first stage has focused on preparing the earthing system, an important part of the solar installation that provides proper grounding and safety.
Once completed, the solar system will help reduce DASL's dependence on its diesel generator, restore full computer lab programming, reduce fuel costs, and provide students with more reliable access to technology education.
With an expected lifespan of approximately 20 years, this project is an investment in sustainable power and in the hundreds of students who rely on DASL's computer training to develop skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and further education.
This project is being funded in great part through the incredible generosity of an anonymous donor, whose support is helping make reliable solar power possible at DASL.
