Challenge

Teja is a cherubic boy who has been affected with Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral palsy (CP) results in multiple movement impairments that often manifest in early childhood. Teja faces poor coordination, stiff muscles, weak muscles, and tremors. He also has issues with speaking, swallowing food as well as hearing.

Solution

While there is no cure for cerebral palsy, treatment can help Teja develop a greater degree of independence. A team consisting of a doctor, a pediatrician, a speech therapist, and an educational psychologist will help Teja address the needs of the child. As Teja gets older, the plan will be reviewed and revised. The aim is to help Teja achieve as much independence as possible.

Long-Term Impact

Supporting Teja will make a huge impact on his abilities to lead independent life as he ages. An early intervention and support mechanism will have a far reaching impact on his self-esteem and his ability to lead a life on his own.
