Every woman and girl has the right to determine her own sexuality, reproductive health, and future. Your support allows Ipas to provide safe abortion and contraception to women and girls across Africa, Asia, and the Americas. This project will provide reproductive health care, access to safe abortions, and expand reproductive rights in low-resource communities around the world.
Each year, 25 million women and girls around the world have unsafe abortions, and an estimated 44,000 women and girls die, with millions more suffering serious and often permanent injuries. Inaccurate information, restrictive laws, and untrained health providers all pose significant barriers for women and girls seeking to access care and remain in control of their bodies and futures.
Ipas trains health workers, supports public health facilities, and ensures that high-quality abortion services are available and accessible in the poorest nations around the world. We partner with community organizations and influential community members to connect people to life-saving health information and care. And we advocate for safe, legal abortion and build local champions to help push legislation that supports abortion access.
Ipas strives to bring the 25 million unsafe abortions performed each year down to zero. By focusing on safe, reliable abortion care and its accessibility-as well as legislation and policies that support women's and girls' bodily autonomy and health- we are working to make zero unsafe abortions a reality.
