Summary

2020 marks 10 years since our volunteer medical teams began traveling to Nepal to bring the gift of healing. Amid the majestic mountains of Nepal, children living in poverty often struggle to stand. Every year 782 children in Nepal are born with clubfoot. In one medical trip our team can assess 70 patients, perform 55 surgical procedures on 20 patients. We had planned to return to Nepal this year but have postponed our trip due to the Coronavirus. We are now planning for 2021. Stay tuned!

Challenge

More than 2/3 of all children born with clubfoot deformity live in circumstances where they do not have access to specialized medical care. In Nepal, 732 children are born every year with clubfoot deformity. These deformities are painful and drastically limit the child's mobility and independence. In March 2021, a team of HTC Volunteers will provide critical foot and ankle surgery in Nepal. Imagine the joy as these children begin to walk on their own two feet for the very first time!

Solution

Our medical volunteers provide all their own expenses, take time off from work, leave their families, raise funds, and secure donated equipment and medical supplies to travel around the world to help heal children. They work alongside the doctors in Nepal and train them on new techniques to correct clubfoot at birth and provide surgery for up to 20 children each year. The team raises all their own funds so your support is critical. The joy in the eyes of the parents and the child is riceless!

Long-Term Impact

Due to the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus, we are postponing our 2020 trip. Dr. Jennifer D'Amico and Dr. Ali Khosroabadi, HTC Southern California are looking to 2021 to led a medical team back to Nepal to provide children with foot & ankle surgery, post op support, and a set of crutches. Our dedicated volunteers are passionate about this work and with your financial support it is all possible - Thank You!
