Turning Point is taking 80 teens from Nairobi's Kibera slum for a five-day holiday. These annual camps are a highlight of the year for the teens we support in Primary Schools and serve as a great incentive for kids to stay in school, work hard and earn their place at camp.
School holidays for most students present an opportunity to have fun, visit new places, interact with new people and even learn new skills that contribute to their holistic growth. Unfortunately, most of our students rarely get to form new experiences or relationships as they spend their days at home with minimal supervision.
The campsite and activities are specially chosen and designed to ensure students exposure to new stimulating environments and activities. The environment inspires them to dream of expanding their horizons beyond Kibera. This year's activities focus on teaching students skills that will positively contribute to their relationship with themselves, others and their community.
All our programme activities contribute to the holistic development of the students. We believe positive relationships with themselves and others contribute to confidence and resilience. In addition, positive relationships contribute to their holistic development. In the long term, the school will remain a safe and healthy environment where students can learn and thrive despite their difficult backgrounds.
