OCTOBER 2026 MONTHLY REPORT

INTRODUCTION

Tabitha Home is a residential care home for orphans and vulnerable children, committed to inspiring hope and building a secure future for every child under its care. The Home provides holistic support through education, healthcare, nutrition, shelter, psychosocial care, life skills, and opportunities for personal development.

THEME OF THE MONTH

Humility and Submission – Noah (Genesis 7:1; Hebrews 11:7)

Throughout the month, the children learned about humility and submission through the example of Noah, who obeyed God's instructions even when they seemed unusual. They were encouraged to listen, follow instructions, respect authority, and remain obedient to God and those responsible for their care.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR OCTOBER 2026

  • The children completed their mid-term tests, while five GCE candidates concluded their examinations and are awaiting results.

  • One beneficiary participated in the Kellogg’s Superstar Competition with an essay on “The Secret to Becoming a Superstar.”

  • Three children celebrated their birthdays during the monthly birthday celebration.

  • Staff and children attended Kent Home’s 10th anniversary and its Founder’s 60th birthday celebration.

  • Kent Home’s management and partners paid a courtesy visit to Tabitha Home, presenting gifts to the children and staff.

  • The monthly family meeting focused on respect, care for shared property, and the responsibilities of living together.

  • A staff review meeting was held to strengthen teamwork, communication, staff development, and the Home’s organisational structure.

OVERVIEW

Education

The children completed six weeks of the academic term and participated in their mid-term tests. Home lessons in Mathematics and English continued for children who required additional academic support. The month ended with the mid-term break.

The five children who sat for the General Certificate Examination (GCE) completed their final paper on Saturday, 24 October. The Home is currently awaiting their results.

In addition, one beneficiary participated in the Kellogg’s Superstar Competition by submitting an essay on the topic, “The Secret to Becoming a Superstar.”

Monthly Birthday Celebration

The October birthday celebration was held on Sunday, 25 October, with three children celebrating their birthdays. The celebrants were prayed for, while other children shared their good wishes with them. The celebration also featured games and cake-cutting, providing an opportunity for the children to bond and enjoy one another’s company.

Monthly Family Meeting

The monthly family meeting was held on Thursday, 29 October. Discussions focused on respecting the Home’s property, showing consideration for one another, and understanding the responsibilities and expectations of every child at Tabitha Home.

Particular emphasis was placed on caring for shared spaces, respecting one another, and contributing to a peaceful and supportive living environment.

Outing and Partnership

On 24 October, staff and children of Tabitha Home attended the celebration of Kent Home’s 10th anniversary and its Founder’s 60th birthday. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate the organisation’s milestone and strengthen the relationship between both Homes.

Earlier, on Thursday, 22 October, the management of Kent Home, accompanied by some of its partners, paid a courtesy visit to Tabitha Home. The delegation presented gifts and shared words of encouragement with the children and staff. The visit was a welcome gesture of support and an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between organisations working to improve the lives of vulnerable children.

Staff Review Meeting

A staff review meeting was held on Friday, 30 October, with all team members in attendance. Discussions centred on maintaining Tabitha Home’s organisational structure, strengthening relationships among team members, and improving the quality of care and service delivery.

The need for regular quarterly and individual staff training was emphasised, alongside proper record-keeping, effective communication, and empathy. Staff were encouraged to remain empathetic in their daily responsibilities, recognising that the wellbeing of every child must remain a priority. An empathetic approach helps caregivers and other team members better understand and respond to the needs of the children under their care.

As the new year approaches, the team also discussed plans to expand the Creative Arts Department to accommodate other skills and interests identified among the children. This will create more opportunities for their individual talents and abilities to be discovered, developed, and nurtured.

CONCLUSION

October was a month of academic activities, fellowship, partnership, and organisational reflection. The children's mid-term assessments, family meeting, and birthday celebration provided opportunities for learning and bonding, while engagements with Kent Home strengthened relationships between both organisations. The staff review meeting also provided an opportunity to reflect on teamwork, professional development, and plans for the coming year.

Tabitha Home remains committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where every child can grow, learn, and develop their potential. We appreciate our partners, donors, volunteers, and supporters for their continued contributions to this work.
