We are raising funds to construct a Mechanised borehole to provide clean and reliable water for the People of Tusani community. This borehole will reduce the burden on the current water source, improve access to safe water, prevent waterborne diseases, and save families especially women and children the time and energy spent in search of water every day. Your support will help bring lasting change to the Tusani community by providing something as basic and essential as clean water.
Tusani community has an estimated population of 650 people largely women and children accounting for more than half of the community population. Once a very vibrant community that relied on a dam for their water source for both domestic and industrial use is now dying of thirst. Over the years, the rains grew unpredictable, the dam dries up, and the village now rely on only one borehole sited about half a kilometre from the community. Women and young girls are most affected including schooling.
After several engagement with key community leaders and stakeholder, Sonbgtaba has design this fundraiser to support Tusani community raise funds to explore new water sources like a mechanised borehole that will solve their years of water crisis and also solve the burden of unpaid care work of women long hours of searching for water and girls since water will now be closer to then so they are able to focus on their education and also improve household sanitation and improve health and welling.
This project has a long term impact of enhancing community social cohesion. due to the water criss, there has been several conflicts as many people scramble over the little available water. Household nutrition and sanitation will be improved as well as the general wellbeing of the residents of Tusani community
