The Resilience Hub is a holistic resources management and employment creation centre where solutions to the ravages of climate change destroying lives and livelihoods of marginalized people, worsening poverty, and natural disasters displacing rural communities will be provided, housed and consolidated. It is a Refuge Centre for skills development, food production and food security, nature conservation and afforestation, massive green jobs, and employment for 25,000 individuals in rural Nigeria.
In the last few decades, rural communities in Nigeria have become an endangered species. They are near extinction. Poverty, flooding, environmental degradation and pollution, poor agricultural practices and yields, unemployment, unaffordable food prices, hunger, diseases, Infant and maternal mortality, banditry, insecurity and other social vices have brought tears, sorrow and premature deaths to residents of Nigeria's much-neglected and abandoned rural communities.
The Hub will have a building for office, accommodation, and training/workshop space for learning various livelihood skills to diversify sources of income, reduce overdependence on forests, and increase climate adaptation. The resilience hub will adopt a train-the-trainer approach by selecting interested individuals through a partnership with community-based Organizations and NGOs, including people living with disabilities who will return and teach hundreds of others in their respective communities
Communities will be better prepared to work themselves out of poverty, create climate-resilient food systems and manage their natural resources sustainably. The people, especially women and youth will be engaged, and productive to create jobs and enhance peace and the local economy.
