Two Sisters Journey with Small World
Sonia and Sophiya , two sisters from the remote village of Phuleli in Solukhumbu, once lived a happy and smooth life with their small family. However, tragedy struck when their mother passed away seven years ago, and their father had been working abroad for six years. Their happiness turned into hardship, but their sister-in-law, lovingly called "Nini," stepped in to raise them alongside their father and his new wife.
Despite the challenges they faced, Sonia , a diligent student, consistently excelled academically and secured the second position in her class. Her family's circumstances made it difficult for her to continue her education, but her determination remained unwavering. Since grade 2, she has received invaluable support from TSW, serving as a guiding light in her educational journey. Now 10 years old and in grade 6, Sonia is more determined than ever to become a doctor and make a positive impact by bringing healing and hope to those in need. She believes that TSW will be delighted to witness her pursuit of this dream.
Sophiya , Sonia's younger sister, is eight years old and excels academically as well, ranking first in her class. Despite the adversities they have faced, both sisters share the dream of becoming doctors. Their aspirations stem from a desire to contribute to their community's well-being and bring smiles to those experiencing pain. She says although she doesn't have much memories of her mother and her father, she is very loved by her Nini and father now that he came back. Along with her big sister Sonia, Sophia expresses the gratitude towards Small World for helping and supporting their education.
Sonia and Sophiya's journey with The Small World exemplifies the transformative power of community support. Through TSW's unwavering dedication, we believe these sisters will pursue their dreams and break free from the shackles of poverty.
We believe that to educate a child is to educate the world. In Nepal, the opportunities for a child's education are greatly jeopardized by many factors with children seldom receiving this gift. Our Child Education Sponsorship Program is a great way to help, even for one child’s future.
At The Small World, our Child Education Sponsorship Program is deeply rooted within and bonded to the child's family, school, and community. This framework ensures a positive and supportive background that ripples throughout the children’s lives, benefiting them as well as their relationships.
