Namaste from The Small World's Girls

Namaste and Happy Holidays from Nepal, Dear Friends and Supporters.

As we reflect on the year, we are deeply grateful for your continued support of girls’ education in Nepal. Because of your generosity, The Small World is transforming the lives of young women in the remote Everest region of Solukhumbu, where girls face some of the greatest barriers to education in the world.

Why Investing in Girls’ Education in Nepal Is Life-Changing

In rural Nepal, girls often face:

  • Early and forced marriage

  • High risk of human trafficking

  • Poverty and food insecurity

  • Limited access to healthcare and education

  • Intergenerational cycles of inequality

For decades, these challenges forced girls to leave school after Grade 10. Education is the most powerful tool to break this cycle, and today, because of your support, that change is happening.

Impact Highlights: Educating Girls in Solukhumbu

Your investment in The Small World, a trusted Nepal NGO, has created measurable impact:

  • 50 girls supported each year through the Solukhumbu Girls’ Dorm

  • 85 young women currently pursuing higher education and professional degrees

  • 500+ girls graduated from vulnerable families and remote mountain communities

More than 100 graduates are now working in their own communities as:

  • Teachers and school leaders

  • Nurses and healthcare workers

  • Women trekking guides in Nepal

  • Entrepreneurs and small business owners

  • Tea house operators in Himalayan villages

  • Bank professionals and legal advocates

These young women are role models—proving that when girls are educated, entire communities rise.

Solukhumbu Girls’ Dorm: A Safe Path to Higher Education

Through the Solukhumbu Girls’ Dorm, girls receive:

  • Safe, family-style accommodation

  • Full educational support (tuition, uniforms, books)

  • Computer and digital education

  • Leadership training and life skills

  • Awareness on human trafficking and women’s rights

Many of our girls come from highly vulnerable families, yet today they are confident, educated, and leading change.

What’s Next: Educating Nepal’s Future Women Leaders

Looking ahead, we are incredibly excited.

In the next 2–3 years, thanks to your partnership:

  • 10 girls will graduate as doctors, lawyers, and computer engineers

  • Many more will become nurses, teachers, and businesswomen

When a girl is educated:

  • Her children are more likely to stay in school

  • Her family’s health and income improve

  • Her community becomes safer and stronger

Educate one girl, and you educate generations.

Building Leadership Through Community Service

At The Small World, education goes beyond academics. Our girls actively participate in:

  • Volunteer programs

  • Community service and leadership initiatives

  • Mentorship and civic engagement

A Girl’s Story from Solukhumbu: Pema’s Journey Through Education

My name is Pema, and I come from a small village in Solukhumbu. My father died while trekking in the mountains of Nepal, and after that, my mother raised five children on her own. Life was very difficult.

Pema shares that she is the first girl in her family to continue her college education—something that once felt impossible.

Without the support of The Small World, I know my life would be very different. I would have already been married, and by now I might have children of my own. This is not only my story—it is the story of many girls in my community.

In remote mountain villages of Nepal, early marriage often ends a girl’s education. But through girls’ education in Nepal, that path can change.

Today, I feel very lucky. I am studying, learning, and celebrating my life. Education has given me confidence, hope, and a future.

Pema’s journey reflects the impact of investing in girls’ education in Solukhumbu and the Everest region—where one opportunity can change the course of an entire family.

Year-End Giving: Continue Your Support for Girls’ Education in Nepal

As the year comes to a close, we warmly invite you to continue your year-end gift to girls’ education in Nepal. Your ongoing support ensures that girls from Nepal’s most vulnerable communities can stay in school, pursue higher education, and become leaders who uplift their families and villages.

A year-end donation to The Small World, a trusted Nepal NGO working in the Everest region, helps provide:

  • Safe accommodation and education through the Solukhumbu Girls’ Dorm

  • Tuition, books, uniforms, and computer education

  • Leadership training and protection from early marriage and trafficking

  • Long-term opportunities that break cycles of poverty for generations

When you invest in girls’ education, the impact lasts a lifetime—and beyond. Educated girls grow into women who educate their children, strengthen local economies, and create positive change both locally and globally.

Your year-end gift today helps shape Nepal’s future tomorrow.

Continue your support for girls’ education in Nepal before the year ends.

Thank you and Namaste !
