So what does this mean outside of Tigray, Ethiopia?
We can now hear first hand how our projects in Abraham's Oasis (AO) are going. Sadly, we do not know the plight of abandoned babies, or those orphaned because of recent strife in the region, or those needing our help with baby milk formula because staff have not been able to travel recently because of renewed struggle and no fuel.
However, electricity and telephones have been retored. Still no Internet of Banks, but these are steps in the right direction. Aid is trickling in with food, (oil and grain) and medical supplies promising better things to come.
Our beautiful babies at Grace Village (the residential project for Abraham's Oasis) are growing, and all have met their growth and weight milestones. They are unaware of conflict because every effort is made to provide food (albeit basic), safe environment and hugs and affection by the fine band of carers who have stayed throughout to care for all the children including the youger ones.
A number of fearful pregnant women have come to AO and delivered babies safely, these babies are being cared for and mothers are being taught childcare and microfinance, that will enable them to earn money later on to support themselves and any children, including their newborn outside when peace returns.
You dear donors have been part of this! Thank you!
