Ewafe Project: Spring Update 2024

By Andy Brown | Individual Giving Manager

Ewafe Project - A Family Reunion

In much of our work it is easy to get lost in the numbers, without slowing down enough to recognise and celebrate the impact of each one of those numbers. It is particularly easy to do that with the Ewafe Project. The Ewafe Project is and has been such an important place for so many children and families over the years. We can't give enough credit to the wonderful team there, as well as the wonderful people who fund it.

Earlier this quarter we had two siblings, *David and *Daisy, staying with us at our Ewafe Home. However, at Kids Club Kampala we believe that children belong in a loving family which makes reintegration an integral part of our work. Therefore, after successfully managing to trace and contact the children's mother, we then provided her with counselling and supported her in learning some positive parenting methods. Following these interventions the siblings have since been happily reunited with their mother. (*names changed)

Here are some of the other key highlights from the quarter at Ewafe:

  • 3 new children were rescued and admitted to the home
  • 85 children have been receiving loving care at the home
  • 6 families were traced and 6 family follow ups were conducted
