Some exciting developments have been taking place at our Ewafe project Home for abandoned children! Thanks to a generous grant, building work on a brand new kitchen and dining room are underway! For the last few years, the kitchen at the Ewafe Home has been a temporary wooden structure that houses charcoal stoves. This makes it difficult to cook and to prepare food safely, especially during the rainy season. Children eat their meals on the porch outside the Home which is not ideal. Not to mention the pesky goats who often come and steal the children’s food when they are eating!
Having a proper, well ventilated and secure kitchen is vital for storing and cooking food hygienically. With increasing numbers of children coming to our Home, it is really important to have a well-functioning kitchen and dining area. This brand new kitchen means that food can be stored, cooked, served and eaten in a safe, clean and hygienic environment, whatever the weather.
