A Better Future: quality education & companionship

A season of celebration, but also an opportunity to reflect upon the last school year, and its challenges. 

Our operation distinguish from the traditional educational services children and adolescents receive here in Mexico. The girls and boys we work with, do not have access to the privilege of prioritizing school. they are unable to dedicate the time it requires, in order to finish their basic education. One thing is the lack of time and money that it costs when choosing school over work, but another is the lack of support from the closest network. 

This is where MAMA comes in. When parents are unable to support their children, our professional and effective educators, teachers, and psychologists stand in, and empower these souls through support and encouragement. Thanks to our team, and you support that help this program keep operating, we have been able to: 

GRADUATE 16 GIRLS, BOYS, AND ADOLESCENTS IN TOTAL! 

7 of the girls and boys graduating are beneficiaries of this program. 52 beneficiaries will continue their educational path, investing in their future, and hoping to soon follow the steps of their recently graduated peers.

All this has been done through providing formal and informal education below: 

• Help with homework 
• Academic follow ups with their schools and teachers 
• Development of social skills in workshops 
• Life Project Workshops 
• MAMA A.C. lessons and values 
• Recreational activities 
• Individual accompaniment and counseling 
• Academic management and liaison 

But, school and personal development are not the only factors improving the quality of life. Events for socializing and celebration improve connections by creating shared memories. This is why we decided to celebrate Children's day and mothers day, to remember that each one of us matters. We also co-organized and hosted the big Street Soccer tournament on local level May 18 and 19. And at last, we were invited to participate in the International Cinema Festival, as 1 of the 10 benefitted organizations. In June a group of excited children and adolescents had the great opportunity to enjoy the new Disney Movie, Lightyear. 

We know that behind these celebrations big effort has been made, and big challenges had to be defeated. Not everybody has the resources to do so, and unfortunately that has resulted in 8 students dropping out of school. The major reasons behind the dropouts are inasistance, economic difficulties, and migration. The open spaces in the project have been utilized by 5 new girls and boys that have been enrolled into the project, to enforce their educational formation.

Since last you have heard from us, we’ve closed a year and opened a new one. maybe not the one we expected, so far. The world is challenged by apathy, causing suffering, chaos and lifes. Christmas is almost 3 months from now, but I still find it very proper to show you my gratitude. I would like to take a look at the brighter side of the coin, and thank you. To let you know, that we sincerely appreciate your trust and donation. With your support, we are able to make the world a more affectionate place, by planting a seed of prosperity in the eye of the hurricane. 

This seed is watered by the girls, boys, and teenagers with help from our educators. In the last three months, they have received help with their homework, workshops on social skills and life projects, MAMA´s life lessons, and individual counseling. Besides, our three educators have monitored the educational processes of the children and teenagers, teaming up with the school and their teachers to enhance the learning and academic development. 

Besides our usual activities, we have also provided more infrequent support. In December, we celebrated Christmas with a Posada, and the children where the children and teenagers received their Christmas gifts, as they do every year. In January, we helped 13 children change their school, and we helped one of our teenagers to enroll at high school! February comprised the enrollments of two smaller siblings into kindergarten, and 6 enrollments into primary education, and 5 enrollments into lower secondary education. We visited a children's Museum and went several times to the park, to move the body and change the classroom with trees and grass.
