This project will allow 10 to 15 children from bulgarian families with financial difficulties to receive a laptop for to participate in distance learning during quarantines. As well as have access to various other online trainings. The crisis with Covid-19 showed that some students remained isolated from the learning process due to lack of a computer. The foundation, with the assistance of schools and local authorities, will donate the equipment to the most financially disadvantaged.
The foundation works for the personal development of young people. And although it is known as supporting pronounced talent, during the Covid 19 crisis, when children in the country first studied remotely, we received inquiries from families with limited financial means to help buying computers. We do not have a budget for needs like these and for children outside our target group, but in this difficult time we are looking for opportunities to be useful in a way that is unusual for us.
The crisis has shown that distance learning is a lifeline for the curriculum. But not for those who hadn't the technical ability to participate in the process. The state will help kids without families, but some children have families that also can't cope. In view of future emergencies, we would like to help at least 15-20 families to solve this problem. The equipment in Bulgaria is not cheap - a basic laptop with licensed software costs about 400 USD, with a minimum monthly income of 350 USD.
We take seriously the isolation of even a child from school for material reasons. After the start of distance learning in the country, the authorities said they would continue to switch to the home option in any health or other crisis. There are still no accurate statistics on how many families have lost their jobs or drastically reduced their incomes because of Covid 19. A laptop for at least a few years will allow children from such families to be "in class" and not deprived of development.
