The past months, the secondary school project in Magugu has been structured by different partnerships. In order to ensure the sustainability of the project and to strengthen our capacities, we developed partnerships in four focal goals :
Water Sanitation and Hygiene :
We found a company specialised in water which will take in charge the construction of the borehole, all the water treatment system, the waste water management and the water distribution. It is also established that the local staff will be trained to ensure the viability of the infrastructure.
Permaculture and Environment :
The second strategic partnership is with a local foundation specialised in permaculture and environment as they fit our ideas into the framework of our activities and objectives. The agreement includes the permaculture and environmental awareness activities of the students, the educational team and the school staff.
Gender :
The local team and the field officer have understood the importance of integrating gender as one of the main goals of the project. In order to make the local organisations more dynamic and to have a continuous presence of gender activities in the school, we have established a partnership with a local organisation that will take care of gender awareness activities such as gender equality, menstruation and the place of women in society. The association, in direct link with Jabungu Foundation and LifeTime Projects, will also be a real sanitary asset in the fabrication and distribution of reusable sanitary pads to the girls of the school.
Building process :
In order to ensure that the infrastructure was built in line with our ambitions, we partnered with a local architect and engineer as well as with Architecte Without Borders from Denmark. The Copenhagen group sent us a detailed document with the different plans and the construction process. This allows us to have real technical support in the construction process and its supervision.
Finally, our various partners are strengthening our capacity. Jabungu Foundation and LifeTime Projects focus on project coordination, fundraising, monitoring and evaluation. We are also in the process of establishing a partnership with a local auditing agency recommended by the French Embassy in Tanzania to ensure transparency and traceability of the project. Regarding fundraising, we are still working on fundraising but our structuring efforts allow us to have more and more opportunities.
