Secondary school project april report

By Laetitia Craig | Directrice

The construction of the secondary school classrooms in Sarame shall begin in July 2023. In order to advance the project, our international project coordinator visited Tanzania in February 2023. She went there with our potential partner EDF (Electricity of France) in order to ensure the realization of the project in terms of electricity and all the infrastructures related. All together, they also met the local engineer and talked about the goals and the results expected for the beneficiaries of the project. This allowed them to focus on the technical details and context of the field in order to organize themselves. The local association Jabungu Foundation met once again the future high school students. Fifty students were accompanied by some parents. The goal of the meeting was to learn more about them and their needs as our association attaches great importance to responding to the needs of the local community. The children were happy to talk about their future and share their ambitions.

During that time, the international team also had the opportunity to visit the land and so to ensure the plantations growth. The trees planted last year are still growing and, step by step, will be a natural barrier against ground erosion. Jabungu Foundation could also then make sure of the methods used for this permaculture work and review the planting plans. There are mango and avocado trees which will be used for the canteen of the future school. Our goal here is to ensure to feed each student every day. More and more trees will be planted.
