As the year draws to a close, alongside our local partner, the Jabungu Foundation, we're taking stock of our progress on our international vocational and environmental high school project. We're sharing it with you!
Building the Chicken Coop: A Key Step Towards the School's Self-Sufficiency
Penguins Without Borders, a student association from the Polytechnic School of Saint-Étienne, contributed both symbolically and very concretely to the project. After funding the raw materials, the association traveled to the international work site for the second year in a row to participate in the construction of the chicken coop.
Today, more than 500 chickens roam freely in this facility. This project serves both as an educational tool for raising environmental awareness among students and as a source of food for the school cafeteria, providing students with nutritious meals.
The benefits of their visit were twofold: the construction of the chicken coop was successfully completed, and the team gained considerable experience. “This mission was a true human and professional adventure. Although we weren't trained in constructing buildings of this scale, we acquired new skills, both technical and cultural.”
We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the Penguins Without Borders team for their commitment to this project.
2025, a year rich in commitment: 24 volunteers, including 4 on civic service contracts
This year, our projects in Tanzania welcomed 20 volunteers on international solidarity missions. Several of them provided support to the teaching staff at GreenHill Primary School. Their main tasks included teaching English and computer skills, offering sports activities, and providing personalized support for children experiencing difficulties.
Another group of volunteers dedicated themselves to the international construction project at our vocational and environmental high school. They assisted local builders in constructing the chicken coop and the administrative building, as well as in the daily management and development of our permaculture farm.
Finally, four volunteers on Civic Service contracts joined us and the Jabungu Foundation. In the first part of the year, Eva-Léna and Luna carried out an education-focused mission in GreenHill. For the second half of the year, Camille and Ugo joined the Jabungu Foundation on-site to provide support in project management.
Expansion of our sustainable infrastructure
This year, with the support of Synergie Renouvelable, we expanded our solar panel installation. The goal was to increase the power generated from green energy to fully cover the school's energy needs.
This year has also been marked by the expansion of crops and livestock on our permaculture farm. In 2025, the chicken coop welcomed its first birds, and many crops have grown well, currently supplying the Jabungu Foundation kitchen and, in the future, the school canteen.
