Dear Supporter,
We hope you had a good start to 2024! Needless to say 2023 was a moving year for our organisation in which we have achieved so many wonderful things with our educational efforts in Morocco – until – that evening on September 8th. This evening changed the lives of many in the region, including our organization. Overnight we went from having 6 houses to only 1.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supportive GlobalGiving friends we have managed to raise nearly half a million dollars on our earthquake crisis appeal. We are full of gratitude and like to express our deepest appreciation for your support.
We are currently planning the demolition of these properties and the rebuilding will commence once we know the government plans with regards to reopening the schools in the relevant villages. On a positive note; the repairs on the damaged house in Ouirgane have now commenced and are scheduled to last 4 months. You can imagine that we are happy we have been able to take this first step towards reconstruction and welcome the moral boost this has given us all.
In the meantime, we have rented temporary accommodation in Chwitter to house the girls and give them a calm place to heal from the trauma as well as a safe warm place to live and focus on their studies which you can imagine have suffered in the hectic months that followed.
We would not have been able to do this without your donation and dedication to our mission.
We would like to highlight a fundraising effort with a special mention to the students and teachers at Batty Weber Primary School, who organized a fabulous Christmas market!
A heartfelt thank you to all our donors for being a beacon of hope. Your ongoing support is making a long-lasting impact on the lives of young girls and the rural communities of Morocco.
