The Achaia Wildfire Relief Fund aims to provide immediate humanitarian aid, psychosocial support, and medium-term recovery assistance to communities devastated by the August 2025 wildfires in Greece. Following an on-site assessment by the Emfasis Non-Profit Team in the most severely affected areas-including Patras, Moiraiika, Vrachnaiika, Kallithea, Lygies, Platanovrysi, Tsoukalaiika, and others-we are preparing targeted interventions based on the urgent needs identified.
In August 2025, the Achaia Region was hit by uncontrollable wildfires, fueled by extreme heat and prolonged drought. Entire villages were evacuated, forests destroyed and hundreds of homes and farms lost. With farming and tourism disrupted, residents face severe economic hardship, psychological distress, and housing insecurity. The scale of the devastation and limited local resources make immediate and ongoing humanitarian aid urgent.
In response to the wildfires, the Emfasis Non-Profit Team activated its emergency protocols, focusing on identifying and addressing urgent needs. In coordination with local authorities, we will distribute relief kits with essentials such as masks, gloves, baby wipes, food, water, blankets, clothing, cleaning supplies and animal feed. Mobile teams will also provide in-person support, prioritizing the elderly and individuals with mobility challenges who may be isolated.
With your support, we will ensure affected residents are not left alone after the initial shock. Beyond immediate aid, our continued presence will provide psychological support, help families navigate recovery and bureaucracy, connect them with legal, financial and housing assistance and create safe spaces and empowerment workshops-especially for women and youth-while monitoring evolving needs in coordination with local services.
