Acquisition of New Industrial Fridge and Freezer

Greetings to all our donors. Hoping that you all are in good health. After a very difficult pandemic year, there is light at the end of the tunnel with the array of vaccines available.   We want to express our biggest thanks to all of you for your continuous support. The Hogar has a new refrigerator and now we are working on getting the funds for the freezer. We are using as many ways as we can to get to end result, which is the acquisition of the freezer that can guarantee safe food management for the benefits of our participants. Donations thru GlobalGiving and other private donors have been received reason why we can say that by the next trimester, we will be able to buy the needed freezer.

Even though we are still in need of the freezer for the safe storage of meat and other frozen items, ever since the acquisition of the refrigerator, we have been able to re-instate a more stable nutritional program as the storage allows to get fresh food in bigger amounts for weekly certified nutritional menu plans. We understand that a healthy nutrition in children helps to establish the foundation for healthy eating habits and nutritional knowledge that they can apply throughout life. The more they understand about nutrition, the more excited they will be about eating healthy. We want to provide then with solid experiences than help them make good decisions starting from what they eat to what and who they want to become.

Greetings to all our donors and thank you very much for your support.  We hope that you all are doing well during these difficult times.  It is with great pleasure that we announce that we have been able to buy the industrial fridge thanks to the donations received thru GlobalGiving as well as other private ones.  We have increased the food storage capability ensuring all food safety measures.  It is our responsibility to offer a balanced and nutritional meal to all our participants and having the necessary storage equipment is definitively part of the process. 

We are still in need to buy the industrial refrigerator.  Meanwhile, we continue storing the frozen food into two small refrigerators that we use temporarily until we raise the funds to buy the industrial one.  Several challenges are present as we have to make more trips to the supermarket exposing the staff to now the community spread Corona Virus.  We hope that we can get the equipment soon to avoid the staff exposure to the COVID-19.  This way we assure the safety of our participants as well.
