This project aims to develop sources of drinking water for the target populations of 5 villages in the Province of Kwango in order to - prevent water-borne diseases, - reduce infant mortality linked to the consumption of improper water and - contribute the reduction of women's jobs. CHALLENGE: reduce the water-borne mortality rate by 50% after 2 years of intervention SOLUTION: ensure sustainable access to safe and potable water IMPACT: sustainable development
Overcrowding contributes to the pollution of water sources, leads to the resurgence of several diseases linked to the uncleanness of water, the source to be used to draw water for consumption and food preparation is also used to wash clothes , bodies, slippers, etc. Field surveys have shown that the consumption of non-potable water in this area is among the factors that cause infant mortality due to diarrhea, typhoid, amoebic dysentery.
By installing several boreholes and treatments of certain sources of water that are drinkable and safe and the population will go directly to supply themselves in boreholes which will be monitored and maintained by our teams on site
The expected results at the end of the project are: water sources and boreholes are fitted out and have pumps supplying the villagers of Kwango with potable and safe water. Access to safe drinking water is ensured in a sustainable manner with target populations
