We will be running the 200 mile Reach The Beach Relay New Hampshire from Bretton Woods to Hampton Beach taking place 15-16 September 2017. We are again collectively raising money for Partners In Health, to revitalize rural health clinics and train the next generation of Mexican doctors in the Sierra of Chiapas, Mexico-one of the most marginalized areas of the country, and to bring crucial surgical care to Kirehe, Rwanda.
In two nations where PIH serves, Mexico and Rwanda, greater resources for staff and hospitals are needed to care and save the lives of patients. In Chiapas, Mexico, PIH works to improve staffing and supply at clinics in the poorest district, where government coverage falls short or does not exist. In Kirehe, Rwanda, PIH helps operate in the district hospital yet because of lack of supplies and poor infrastructure, we are only able to provide a small fraction of the procedures that are needed.
In Mexico, Partners In Health's sister organization, Companeros en Salud, is revitalizing these under-performing clinics, working directly with Mexican doctors, nurses, and community members to provide to a full range of primary care services for rural families who previously had no reliable health care options. In Rwanda, your gift would kickstart an advanced surgical program at Kirehe District Hospital and would incentivize the hiring of a dedicated surgeon for the facility.
Partners In Health has employed a model that not only provides comprehensive, quality, primary care in these remote regions, but also train new generations of doctors, committed to serving the poor. As we expand our reach in Mexico and grow the care we can provide in Rwanda, your support ensures that we are able to revitalize health care for those who need it most, and that through training and increased access to vital supplies, that care is sustained.
