Summary

For the International Women's Day 2026, we are organising a conference with 120 participants in Begoro, Ghana. The event aims to amplify the voices of women in Ghana by showcasing their achievements, struggles, and contributions to society. As part of the celebration, thirty women will receive lowinterest loans and financial literacy training, enabling sustainable income and community growth. In addition, a donation to a maternity ward is organised to strengthen health services in the area.

Challenge

Womens voices are often unheard in Ghanas society. They lack access to credit from financial institutions. Banking services can be deliberately hard to understand for people with a lower literacy and women with small or no businesses are often seen by banks as too risky to lend to. Without a decent education or business training, many women are left running businesses that don't reach their potential. As a result, these women can't make the most of their resources and incomes suffer greatly.

Solution

The project solves the problem of women's economic exclusion and limited healthcare by amplifying female voices and giving 30 women in Begoro access to low-interest loans in the amount of 2000 GHC each and provide business training, enabling sustainable businesses and household income. It also supports justice by correcting financial inequities, while a donation to a maternity ward improves maternal health. Together, these actions advance rights, justice, and opportunity for all women and girls.

Long-Term Impact

This project provides women with skills to last a lifetime and supports the economic participation of women, promotes gender equality and improves the economic welfare of women. In addition, when the women have greater earning potential, they are able to secure their families' futures and pass on their expertise to their children. In this way, the project has a multi-generational impact. A donation to a maternity ward in the same region improves maternal health.
