The project aims to provide familiar and communitarian conviviality for sheltered children between age of 7-17 years old who have fragile or broken family bonds, remote chances of adoption or family reintegration, enabling and encouraging the formation and maintenance of individualized and long-lasting emotional bonds between them and previously selected - qualified volunteers. Offering them a chance to experience family and social life which will help them to build an autonomous life
There are 4,700 children/adolescents aged 7 to 17 years able to be adopted across Brazil, but the fate of many of them can be to stay in foster care until they reach adulthood. The project's targets this audience, whose family bonds are broken, and have remote chances of adoption or family reintegration. When deprived of family life, they may face a painful process of maturation, having a harder time to find safe references for building their identity, autonomy, achievement of future projects.
We provide: 1.secure and lasting relationships for children and adolescents living in shelters, strengthening their psychosocial development 2. To enlighten community members to get involved with sheltered children and adolescents, contributing to the construction of their life projects.
The final aim is to offer to young people emotional support on a long-time basis, which will help them to build an autonomous life. 20 children will establish secure and lasting relationships with qualified adults; 20 adults will be qualified as affective godfather/mothers through qualifying meetings and monthly supervisions. When they turn 18 and leave the shelter, they will have references to count with.It will be disseminated in social media to be replicated to reach more vulnerable children
