Urban Scale Foundation will reduce unsafe blighted homes in the under served community of Detroit. This will be achieved my acquiring these homes and renovating with green energy efficient infrastructure. Assist the families with financial literacy and home buying counseling to be able to afford to purchase these homes.
Detroit has faced some economic challenges. Those challenges have turned a once thriving city that depended on the automotive industry into a depressed city which is now on its way to a comeback. However, through all of the city's transitions, poverty has always existed. Detroit's unemployment rate is 8.7%, when jobs are scarce living area become unsafe. Those 2 variables in Detroit led to a decline in home ownership and increase of blighted homes which is present in the Detroit area.
Urban Scale Foundation provides safe, quality, green energy efficient homes to low income families. Single mothers or parents are trained and educated in financial literacy, green energy efficiency attributes and home buying counseling. These families will proceed to purchase safe and quality homes in their community.
This project in a long term impact will provide 225 quality, safe, energy efficient homes to low income families. These families will be self sufficient financially and will be transition out of poverty to be stable and balance families in a secure vibrant community.
