Project Report | Apr 4, 2023
Wrapping up a tremendous project

By Justin Mendoza | Executive Director, UAEM North America

Free the vaccine has been one of the most impactful projects led by UAEM student leaders to date.

Working alongside the Center for Creative Activism, we mobilized more than 700 volunteers around the world to fight for access to vaccines developed by the people and for the people.

These efforts have not ended, but they're taking a different shape, which means we'll be wrapping up this GlobalGiving project at the end of April.

As a part of the People's Vaccine Alliance, Free the Vaccine advocates are continuing to push for the world to democratize the development of vaccines.

In March, UAEM's Free the Vaccine leaders even sent in a public comment to the United States International Trade Commission to encourage use of TRIPS Flexibilities to free the vaccine.

In shrot, the U.S. Government is investigating whether or not to keep letting nations all over the world have access to vaccine production technology, which is essential to stopping COVID-19 everywhere, and essential to creating a true people's vaccine for the world.

We stand firmly with lower- and middle-income countries and people all over the world who need access to the vaccine.

You can read our full comments here.

Your support let's us fund the research from this work, and let's UAEM Continue to fight to free the vaccine.

Although we will be wrapping up this project at the end of April, we hope you'll consider supporting future projects that we launch, including a push to support student research, empowerment projects on campuses everywhere, and of course, continuing to fight for a world where everyone can afford the medicines made with public dollars.
