In 2021, AIL was able to train 100 teachers in modern teaching techniques. This sort of teacher training is in great demand in the country as many teachers have little or no formal training. Many teachers follow the traditional rote memorization methods, which is how they themselves were taught at school.
AIL’s teacher training program provides teachers with the knowledge of modern, interactive, student-centered teaching methods including question and answer, group work, role playing and presentations. This type of teaching produces students who are independent, critical thinkers with problem solving skills and they are used to working in groups, listening to others’ opinions and confident in presenting their ideas to others.
As the spring weather arrives, AIL started its teacher training seminars in March reaching 212 teachers with four seminars held in Mazar e Sharif, Balkh Province. Two seminars were teacher training for 60 men and 60 women and two literacy seminars were held for 92 female teachers.
