Dear Friends,
AIL’s Teacher Training Program provides quality, in-depth education to Afghan teachers and is changing the way people, both teachers and students, think and interact.
Often the greatest impact of AIL-trained teachers is felt in rural, insecure areas where the quality of teachers is low or schools are non-existent. Critical thinking is one of the most important skills that AIL emphasizes across all educational curriculums. Teachers are encouraged to use more creative methods to convey new material rather than requiring rote memorization. Once students can think critically, their ability to independently problem solve increases and has positive benefits in their lives.
AIL’s Teacher Training Program has been so successful that it has been widely adopted by the government in communities across Afghanistan. In addition to teaching related training, teachers attend supplemental workshops on topics such as health, women’s rights, leadership, democracy and peace.
One of the teachers who participated in an April training said: “I thank AIL for all the opportunities for the growth and development of youth and training to improve our teaching capacity and to be useful persons in society. I participated in this training seminar and vowed to use everything that I learned in my classroom.”
Narges, another teacher said, “I took part in this seminar as a new teacher and now I understand that teaching is not an easy task. A teacher should be knowledgeable and learn more every day. This seminar gave me motivation to become a skilled teacher and to be an effective teacher for my students. Because teaching is a holy job, it cannot be done carelessly.”
Thank you for your support for Afghan teachers.
