We must act: Mission Bambini in partnershio with Fondazione ARCA wants to help to offer an answer to the needs of the thousands of Afghan refugees who, following the leaving from the country of the US and allied military forces, with the subsequent take of power of the Taliban had to leave Afghanistan. We have decided to act by supporting a project partner already active on this front offering, in addition to an economic contribution, its own specific experience in the educational field.
Since the fall of Kabul and the takeover of the Taliban on 15 August 2021, 87 flights have been organized to secure as many Afghans as possible. Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo has in fact declared that from Afghanistan "they have been taken away 120,000 people "and Italy is the first EU country for evacuated Afghan citizens. The organized airlift, in fact, after the worsening of the political and social crisis in Afghanistan, brought to Italy several people much higher than initially expected.
In this phase between 700 and 800 refugees should be welcomed in Lombardy. Of these, about 200 should be destined for Milan. To managing these first arrivals, soon it will be essential to be ready to welcome the thousands of people, for whom it has not been possible to organize humanitarian corridors and who will try to reach family members who have arrived in Italy. For all of them, and for their families, a new life path will begin, completely to be rewritten.
In a medium to long-term perspective, however, FPA also intends to work for: 5. Contribute to the development of the autonomy of the family unit through personalized programs aimed at the economic independence of the recipients. 6. Helping to re-establish a serene parent-child relationship, through support for parenting. 7. Promote the strengthening of a proximity network to encourage support and integration of the family unit.
