Summary

URGENT - help needed for Herat earthquake victims! Poor Afghans in Afghanistan are particularly vulnerable in times of disaster, whether natural or economic. Those without jobs, food or homes face starvation in harsh winter weather or after other natural disasters or following displacement. In recent years, there have been landslides, earthquakes and flooding incidents where we have been able to provide help.

Challenge

Many poor Afghans live on the edge of family crisis, without a safety net in the harsh winters, let alone should a disaster occur. AIL is able to provide food and relief for these people by having funds to plan ahead and buy provisions, so as to be ready to respond as soon as needed. These funds were most recently put to use in responding to landslide, earthquake and flooding disasters as well as regular food needs .

Solution

Donations to this project will go towards efforts to provide aid to the most vulnerable in the case of severe weather or disasters. AIL has a team that keeps supplies prepared, monitors weather and is alerted to disasters that occur, including those in more remote areas.

Long-Term Impact

The aid provided will help the poor to feed their families, provide fuel for cooking fires and give other assistance as needed, to help people make it through crisis points.
