Challenge

The under-representation of women within the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields due to challenges faced which are a combination of social, cultural and psychological factors such as gender bias especially in Nigeria. This project will help change the narrative and promote STEM enthusiasm in young girls.

Solution

The bootcamp will educate participants on the application of tools and concepts across STEM, and empower them to use these in solving real life problems faced by individuals and businesses around them. Also, it will raise awareness about bias against women in STEM fields and actively encourage the girls to be interested and involved in STEM.

Long-Term Impact

The project will educate and increase STEM enthusiasm in 100 girls resulting in a gradual but consistent reduction in the gender gap in the STEM industries and therefore, having increased numbers of women actively involved and attaining top positions in these industries.
