“Companionship and Encouragement: Wei's Journey of Growth“
Wei has four siblings. Her parents are divorced and her father is often away from home, so she relies on her grandpa's meager salary as a cleaner to support her. Grandpa's education was limited and he was unable to give homework guidance, and the children would not take the initiative to ask their teachers, which was considered by the school teachers as a learning disability. Since almost all of them were unable to complete their homework, they were brought to the church by Grandpa for help.
When Wei first came to the class, she was reluctant to express her emotions and did not follow the rules during classroom activities. She would delay her homework for a long time because she was in a daze and often could not finish it in time, and she would chew on pens and erasers and eat the eraser crumbs when she was in a hurry. When corrected by classmates or asked by the teacher to correct her homework, she would then lose her temper, drop things kick tables and chairs, or even hurt others.
With the teacher's support and companionship, Wei has gradually become more willing to express her emotions in a few words and to follow the rules of the group. Although she is still slow in writing her homework, she has found good friends to play with in the class and is willing to talk to the teacher and share her craftwork.
One day, Wei brought her drawings to her teacher. At first, the teacher thought she wanted to borrow stationery, but the teacher didn't realize that she wanted to share the joy of completing her artwork with the teacher. Listening to her explaining her ideas one by one, the teacher was not only happy but also proud of her. With her teacher's encouragement, Wei became more confident and her academic performance improved significantly.
In the Elephant Circle Program, through community cohesion and the spread of love, along with your generous support, we can provide vulnerable families and children with the help and care they need to regain their hope and courage.
