Summary

The children's home provides comprehensive care to an average of 43 children and adolescents per year. Each one of them attends a formal educational institution in Mexico, however, after school activities are necessary that allow them to reinforce what they have learned in class, do their homework and continue developing skills to become the leaders of the future. For this we have a team of educators who strive every day to provide the support and affection that children need.

Challenge

Because the children and adolescents cared for by the children's home come from contexts of abandonment or omission of care, they present different degrees of educational lag. Although formal education is very important, extracurricular, reinforcement and cultural activities are fundamental during childhood and adolescence, these allow them to learn outside of the school environment, allow them to interact with other children and prepare them to meet other areas outside of school.

Solution

The project proposes extracurricular activities that allow learning outside of the school environment, which gives the users of the children's home the possibility of interacting with other children and prepares them to discover other areas outside of school in which they can learn. It also contemplates school reinforcement and support in the preparation of homework.

Long-Term Impact

Extracurricular activities contribute to the comprehensive development of children and adolescents, since they favor positive climates inside and outside the classroom, they mean a time of relaxation and emotional support that improves their autonomy and self-esteem. This project provides new experiences in which children can discover skills and talents in other areas of educational development while reinforcing what they have learned in official school.
