Agape Old Age Home was established in response to the growing need for elder care services within marginalized communities. Agape Old Age Home sought to address issues of neglect, poverty, and social isolation faced by elderly individuals, particularly those from the Dalit community, by providing a safe and supportive living environment. The Home provides a safe and nurturing environment where residents can age with dignity and respect.
According to NITI Aayog, the elderly population of India is 104+ million at present, which is 10.5% of the total population. Millions of elderly are in need of food, home and healthcare services. Due to limited financial resources and funding constraints, we are facing challenges in sustaining and expanding this project to other Districts of Tamil Nadu in India.
Agape Old Age Home will address food insecurity, malnutrition and homelessness among elderly individuals in marginalized communities. The Home will provide nutritious meals and health care support to those who are at risk of hunger and malnutrition. The Home will offer the elderly, a dignified and supportive living environment. Agape Old Age Home is now a residence for 35+ elderly from different villages in Chengleput District, Tamil Nadu, India.
Agape Old Age Home is planning to expand its outreach efforts to reach elderly individuals in remote or marginalized areas through mobile food distribution and community partnerships. Programs and activities will be designed to cater to the physical, emotional, and social needs of the elderly. The home will intensify community engagement and awareness campaigns to address stigma and promote acceptance of elder care services.
